Beaver Management Plans

Comprehensive Beaver Management Plans are a sensible approach for towns, recreation areas, and
other larger landowners and manager who are dealing with multiple beaver conflict sites. A Beaver
Management Plan replaces reactive management with proactive management that enhances safety
for workers, decreases long-term costs,  liability, damage, and labor.

The planning process can include all or some of the following elements, depending on the unique
circumstances.  This approach can save tens of thousands of dollars of damage or costly legal action
by preventing beaver-related problems.

Comprehensive Beaver Management Plan Elements:
  • List, photograph, describe, and obtain gps coordinates for current beaver conflict sites.
  • Identify additional potential conflict sites and proactive strategies to avoid future conflicts
    (optional).
  • Prioritize conflict sites for treatment.
  • Develop recommended management strategies and cost estimate for each site.
